Sainz Jr. joined Ferrari from McLaren in 2021 on a two-year contract, extending to 2024, having proven an exciting year in 2022. Sainz´s career in Formula One debuted slowly in 2015 with Toro Rosso and Max Verstappen as his teammate. Sainz drove for the Italian squad till mid-2017, when he replaced J. Palmer at Renault. He left the french team at the end of 2018 to join McLaren. In two successful years with McLaren Renault, he scored 3rd in Brazilian GP 2019 and 2nd at Italian GP in 2020. In his first year at Ferrari, he scored a total of 4 podium finishes but still could not win a race. In the overall standings of the 2021 season, he defeated in points his teammate Charles Leclerc.
