A great memorabilia photo for a true Tifoso Ferrari aficionado to collect is Villeneuve's driving style, as this illustrious driver often made his car "take off," gaining him the nickname of "the aviator." However, Villeneuve's real take-off happened that same year, the preceding year, at the 1978 Canadian GP, the season's last race. Gilles won his first victory on home soil at the Circuit de L'Île Notre-Dame. An exceptional track would finally bear the departed driver's name, who unfortunately left us on May 8, 1982.
Villeneuve died in a 140 mph (230 km/h) crash caused by a collision with the March car driven by Jochen Mass during qualifying for the 1982 Belgian Grand Prix at Zolder.
