The Historic Sauber Red Bull Ford C15 Test: A Unique Pre-Hungarian GP Event

In a remarkable moment of Formula 1 history, Sauber organized a special test session on short notice ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix, bringing together an eclectic mix of drivers to pilot the Sauber Red Bull Ford C15. This event marked a significant milestone as it included the first-ever F1 test for Alexander Wurz, a young talent who would go on to establish a successful career in the sport.

The Drivers: A Blend of Experience and Fresh Talent

The test lineup featured a fascinating mix of participants:

  • Alexander Wurz: Making his Formula 1 testing debut, showcasing the promise that would later define his career.
  • John Watson: The ex-F1 driver and renowned TV pundit brought his vast racing experience to the session.
  • Dr. Jonathan Palmer: A former F1 driver turned broadcaster and businessman, adding a wealth of insight to the test.
  • Marc Surer: Another ex-F1 driver and commentator, whose knowledge and skill provided valuable feedback.
  • Condition: Gently Used baring the years of it's hand production

On the second day, Sauber’s race driver, Johnny Herbert, took the wheel to put the C15 through its paces. Unfortunately, his run was cut short due to an engine failure, adding an element of drama to the event.

This test not only highlighted Sauber’s willingness to innovate but also underscored their collaborative spirit in bringing together figures who bridged racing history, commentary, and future talent.
