On March 24, 1991, Ayrton Senna achieved one of the most emotional victories in Formula 1™ history.

Racing at Interlagos in São Paulo, in front of his home crowd, Senna battled serious gearbox problems, physical exhaustion and agonizing muscle cramps to win the Brazilian Grand Prix for the very first time.

It was more than a racing victory.

It was the realization of a lifelong dream: winning on home soil and bringing immense pride to the Brazilian people.

Twenty-five years later, as Brazil prepared to host the Olympic Games for the first time, that unforgettable triumph became the inspiration for something extraordinary.

No Pulso do Brasil: Senna's Message to a Nation

Created by the Instituto Ayrton Senna in partnership with J. Walter Thompson and animation studio Le Cube, the 2016 No Pulso do Brasil campaign was designed to inspire athletes preparing for the biggest competitions of their lives.

The bracelet carried three powerful Portuguese words:

• GARRA — Grit, courage and fighting spirit.

• DETERMINAÇÃO — Determination.

• SUPERAÇÃO — Overcoming adversity and surpassing one's limits.

These were not merely motivational words. They reflected the qualities that defined Ayrton Senna throughout his remarkable career.

The campaign connected Senna's passion for Brazil with athletes striving to achieve their own historic victories before their home crowd.

For many participants, the experience was deeply emotional, recalling the national pride and inspiration that Senna continues to represent.

(AR Capabilities) Augmented Reality: When Senna's Helmet Came to Life

What made this bracelet truly extraordinary was its innovative use of augmented reality (AR) technology.

In 2016, athletes could point a smartphone or tablet running the dedicated No Pulso do Brasil application at the helmet design on their bracelet.

The application recognized the helmet artwork and triggered a moving animated experience that appeared over the wearer's arm.

Using authentic recorded audio of Ayrton Senna, the animation recreated his heroic 1991 Brazilian Grand Prix victory, bringing his message of perseverance and national pride directly to the athletes.

The project combined physical memorabilia, animation, technology and sporting history in a uniquely emotional experience.

The campaign subsequently received a prestigious Silver Lion at the 2016 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.
